PhilaPort opens permanent cruise terminal in Philadelphia
The facility supports a seven-year agreement with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and planned sailings through April 2028.
PhilaPort and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. marked the opening of the new PhilaPort Cruise Terminal with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, establishing a permanent base for cruise operations in Philadelphia.
The terminal supports a seven-year agreement between PhilaPort and the cruise company that runs through March 31, 2033. The partnership also includes the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Cruise activity at the facility is projected to support about 2,185 direct and indirect jobs and generate nearly $300 million in annual economic output across Pennsylvania. The projected benefits include activity in tourism, hospitality, transportation and other regional businesses.
Norwegian Jewel is scheduled to operate from Philadelphia through Sept. 26, 2026. Norwegian Pearl is due to arrive in November 2026 and offer itineraries of five to 14 days through April 2028, with destinations including Bermuda, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Canada and New England.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings also announced $50,000 in community contributions. Of that amount, $20,000 is designated for Tinicum Township’s local fire department, while $30,000 will go to three area Boys & Girls Clubs to support programs and resources for children and families.
