Passenger alleges bathroom panel caused injuries aboard Harmony of the Seas
A federal complaint seeks more than $75,000 from Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. over an incident reported in May 2025.
LeAnn Carpenter of Texas filed a lawsuit against Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Aug. 11, 2026, seeking damages exceeding $75,000, according to the complaint.
The filing alleges Carpenter was a paying passenger aboard Harmony of the Seas in May 2025 when a bathroom access panel became dislodged while she was using the restroom. The panel allegedly hit her head and caused her to fall to the floor.
According to the complaint, Carpenter was evaluated and observed by a shipboard physician at the vessel’s medical center and received intravenous therapy. Because of the center’s limited facilities, she was sent ashore for head or skull imaging at Cozumel International Hospital in Cozumel, Mexico.
Carpenter claims she was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury accompanied by cognitive and psychological symptoms, including memory problems, difficulty concentrating and fear of driving. She also alleges unspecified spinal cord injuries.
The lawsuit accuses Royal Caribbean of negligence under three theories: failure to remedy the alleged hazard, failure to warn and vicarious liability. Carpenter is seeking compensation related to medical expenses, pain and suffering.
