Odyssey of the Seas cancels Naples call during overboard search
The passenger was rescued in the Ionian Sea about 20 hours after going overboard, according to the Hellenic Coast Guard.

A 44-year-old woman from El Salvador reportedly went overboard from Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas at about 6 a.m. on October 9. A Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson said the ship interrupted its voyage to Naples and immediately began rescue operations.
The captain later announced that the Naples visit would be canceled because the search left insufficient time to reach the port as scheduled. More than 4,000 passengers instead spent an additional day at sea while the ship continued to Civitavecchia, where the cruise concluded on October 11.
The Hellenic Coast Guard said the woman was rescued in the Ionian Sea at approximately 2 a.m. on October 10, 2026, about 20 hours after she went overboard.
Some passengers sought additional compensation for the missed call. Tara Neeley said guests were entitled to compensation, while Winicius Gabriel said Royal Caribbean denied his request and that the unplanned sea day lacked scheduled activities. Passengers said they received only refunds of Naples port fees. Most reported credits of $33.01 to their SeaPass accounts, although some said they received $26 per person.
