Oasis of the Seas returns late after reported medical emergency
The delayed Cape Liberty arrival pushed back embarkation and shortened the next voyage’s Port Canaveral call.

Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas turned around because of a reported medical emergency while returning to New Jersey from a seven-night Bahamas cruise. A passenger said medical-emergency announcements were heard at about 11 p.m. and again later that night.
Royal Caribbean said the guest was taken ashore to receive additional medical care, delaying the ship’s return to Cape Liberty. Oasis of the Seas arrived at 9:30 a.m. instead of its scheduled 6 a.m. arrival, requiring the cruise line to postpone check-in appointments for the next sailing so departing passengers could leave before boarding began.
The earliest terminal arrival appointment was moved from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., while later groups were assigned times through 4 p.m. The delayed departure also reduced the next voyage’s scheduled Port Canaveral visit from eight hours to six hours.
Royal Caribbean said it would attempt to reschedule affected Port Canaveral excursions and provide onboard credit for excursions canceled by the company. Guests completing the October 4 sailing were offered reimbursement for eligible flight and transportation change fees, capped at $200 per person for domestic travel and $400 per person for international travel.
