NYK Names and Launches New Cruise Ship Amane in Sasebo
The vessel is being built to succeed Tokyo Bay restaurant ship Lady Crystal and is expected to begin service in May 2027.

NYK held a naming and launch ceremony for its new cruise ship Amane on September 11 at Maehata Shipbuilding in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture.
During the event, NYK Senior Managing Executive Officer Takuji Banno formally named the vessel Amane, written in Japanese as 海音. Masamichi Katayama then carried out the ceremonial rope-cutting before the ship was launched.
Amane is under construction as the successor to Lady Crystal, a restaurant ship currently operating in Tokyo Bay. The project will continue with interior outfitting and related work following the launch.
NYK has scheduled the new vessel for delivery in March 2027. Amane is expected to enter service two months later, in May 2027.
