Norwegian Sky ends NCL service ahead of transfer to Cordelia Cruises
The vessel completed a Mediterranean farewell voyage before its expected move to India under a long-term charter agreement.
Norwegian Sky was completing its final voyage for Norwegian Cruise Line on September 9, 2026, concluding a 27-year career with the company ahead of a planned transfer to an operator in India.
Its final NCL sailing was a nine-day Mediterranean itinerary from Barcelona to Piraeus. A following voyage through the Red Sea toward the Middle East was canceled because of the prevailing geopolitical and security situation in the region.
Preparations for the handover were visible during the farewell cruise. The shops, art gallery and spa operated with restrictions, while restaurants, bars and lounges continued operating normally.
After the final passengers disembarked, the ship was expected to transfer to Cordelia Cruises under a long-term charter agreement and take the name Cordelia Sky. Conversion work had reportedly been intended for Dubai Drydocks World, but regional security conditions required the refurbishment to be conducted at another location.
Cordelia Sky was scheduled to begin operating from Mumbai in October 2026. Norwegian Sun was also expected to join Cordelia Cruises in India, with its transfer planned for autumn 2027.
