Norwegian Prima hot tubs closed during Legionnaires’ disease review
Norwegian Cruise Line said it was working with the CDC after three reported cases involving passengers who sailed in May and July 2026.
Norwegian Cruise Line said in a passenger notification that it was working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding three reported Legionnaires’ disease cases involving guests who sailed aboard Norwegian Prima in May and July 2026.
According to the notification, all public hot tubs and heated whirlpools on private balconies will remain closed while sampling is conducted. The facilities will reopen after testing is finished and any necessary remediation has been completed in line with CDC guidance.
The report said all test results taken aboard Norwegian Prima had been negative. It also said authorities had not determined whether the three affected passengers contracted the illness on the ship or from another source.
Beyond the temporary closure of whirlpools, hot tubs and similar amenities during the testing process, the report said Norwegian Prima had no other illness-related operational changes.
