Norwegian Plans Waterpark, Pier and Lagoon at Great Stirrup Cay
The cruise line’s private-island expansion includes new family attractions, adult-oriented spaces and infrastructure designed for direct ship calls.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings announced in April 2025 a major expansion of Great Stirrup Cay, with plans for new infrastructure, increased capacity and attractions aimed at families and adults traveling without children.
The centerpiece is planned to be Great Tides Waterpark, which Norwegian promotes as a nearly six-acre signature attraction. Company fact sheets describe up to 19 slides and water features, including an 800-foot dynamic river, tower slides and children’s areas. Plans also call for a family slide accommodating as many as four riders, racer slides at Cliffside Cove, splash areas and nearby lounging zones.
Norwegian’s materials also outline 10-foot and 15-foot cliff-jump platforms near the island’s existing Flightline zipline. The waterpark is expected to open in phases extending into summer 2026.
A planned multi-ship pier is intended to replace tender operations on many visits and allow larger vessels or two ships to dock directly at Great Stirrup Cay. Elsewhere, a 1.4-acre heated Great Life Lagoon with beach-style entries is set to anchor a new welcome area. Company announcements say the lagoon will include two swim-up bars, family splash zones, cabanas and loungers.
