Norwegian Joy departs Seattle after immigration delays
Passengers reportedly faced hours of waiting as the ship completed U.S. customs and immigration processing following a sailing from Vancouver.

Norwegian Joy passengers reportedly encountered a lengthy boarding delay in Seattle after the ship arrived from Vancouver. No passengers were permitted to board until required U.S. immigration and customs procedures had been completed, according to reports of the disruption.
U.S. customs processing is typically completed on the first day of Alaska cruises leaving Vancouver, the report said. In this case, one guest said everyone aboard was required to leave the ship for customs and immigration because the voyage had originated in Canada.
The passenger said they waited for the final group to be called and disembarked at about 5:15 p.m. According to the guest’s account, passengers did not begin returning to Norwegian Joy until sometime after 6 p.m.
The ship eventually left Seattle following the delays. Ship-tracking information indicated Norwegian Joy was then sailing toward San Francisco, with Los Angeles scheduled as the voyage’s final stop on October 7.
