Norwegian Jade shifts Whittier embarkation after dock fire
The ship boarded guests at Whittier Alaska Cruise Ship Terminal 1 while emergency crews responded near its originally scheduled terminal.

Norwegian Cruise Line changed Norwegian Jade’s embarkation location from Glacier Creek Terminal to Whittier Alaska Cruise Ship Terminal 1 after a dock fire near a local tour boat on September 14.
A local report said Klondike Express was near the fire and had no passengers aboard at the time. Both the tour boat and Norwegian Jade were able to move away from the area. The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed that the fire was first reported at 11 a.m.
Norwegian Cruise Line said emergency personnel were continuing to respond at the Chugach Glacier Gateway Cruise Terminal and that access to the area remained restricted. The company said it would proceed with embarkation from the alternate terminal.
No additional itinerary changes were reported beyond the relocated embarkation point on West Camp Road. Norwegian Jade was expected to continue its planned voyage with calls at Hubbard Glacier, Icy Strait Point, Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan before arriving in Vancouver, British Columbia.
