Norwegian expands Free at Sea dining benefit to more cabin guests
New bookings from August 26 extend the specialty dining perk beyond the first two travelers on a reservation.
Norwegian Cruise Line has expanded its Free at Sea specialty dining benefit to every guest sharing the same cabin, up to a maximum of eight people. The change applies to new bookings beginning August 26. Previously, the dining benefit covered only the first and second guests on a reservation, while additional travelers paid full restaurant prices.
The perk generally provides each eligible guest with three specialty restaurant meals during a seven-night sailing. The meals are not entirely free: passengers pay an upfront gratuity or service charge equal to 20% of each meal’s value. Depending on the restaurant, that can represent savings of up to 80%, including at venues such as Cagney’s Steakhouse, Le Bistro, Ocean Blue and Teppanyaki or Hasuki.
The broader benefit follows Norwegian’s elimination in late 2025 of advance purchases for additional discounted specialty dining packages. The cruise line instead shifted to restaurant cover charges ranging from $40 to $60, depending on the venue.
Norwegian also introduced a fleetwide $10-per-person no-show fee on September 5, 2025, for specialty restaurants that require reservations. Under the policy, guests must cancel or modify a booking at least two hours before the scheduled dining time to avoid the charge.
