Norwegian Cruise Line and NHL Support Miami Coastal Project
Force Blue joined veterans, scientists and volunteers for environmental work at Virginia Key.

Norwegian Cruise Line partnered with the NHL on an environmental project at Virginia Key as part of the continuing relationship between the cruise company and the league. The 1,000-acre barrier island is near downtown Miami and the Norwegian Cruise Line port and is described as a critical ecological resource.
Through its Sail and Sustain program, Norwegian enlisted Force Blue, a nonprofit that retrains and deploys former Special Operations military veterans to work alongside scientists on targeted marine conservation missions. Veterans, scientists and other volunteers worked to reduce environmental hazards at the Miami coastal site.
Former Florida Panthers and Colorado Avalanche forward Peter Worrell participated as a volunteer. Worrell played seven NHL seasons between 1997 and 2004. Debris Free Ocean, Frost Science Museum and the Guy Harvy Foundation also supported the project.
