Norwegian Aura to Feature Whitney Houston Tribute as Headline Show
Norwegian Cruise Line is working with Whitney Houston’s estate and Primary Wave Music on a 45-minute production for its newest and largest ship.

Norwegian Cruise Line has selected a Whitney Houston tribute as the headline show for Norwegian Aura, which is scheduled to launch next year as the company’s newest and largest ship.
The cruise line is partnering with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and Primary Wave Music to develop the 45-minute production. Bryan White said the show will take a contemporary theatrical-concert approach, using multiple performers rather than casting a single performer to impersonate Houston.
According to White, developing a cruise ship production generally takes between 18 and 24 months. About four months before the set is installed aboard the ship, cast members begin rehearsals and costume fittings at Norwegian Cruise Line’s studio in Tampa, Florida. During that period, technical teams start preparing scenery, lighting, video and sound elements.
White also said Norwegian Cruise Line’s headline theatre productions are generally staged multiple times during a voyage. The typical schedule includes two performances per night across several days, allowing more guests an opportunity to attend.
