MSC World America crew member charged in case involving minor
A former lifeguard was arrested after the ship docked at PortMiami, according to an arrest affidavit.

Rafael Cayetano Blanco, 38, was arrested Aug. 22 after MSC World America docked at PortMiami, according to an arrest affidavit. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office charged him with unlawful sexual activity involving a minor.
The affidavit alleges that Cayetano Blanco was working as a lifeguard aboard the ship when he met a 17-year-old passenger. It states that the passenger later went to his cabin, where they had sex, and returned on Aug. 19, when they had sex again.
Court records show Cayetano Blanco faced one count of sexual activity with a minor. The arrest affidavit also indicated that an immigration hold had been placed on him.
MSC Cruises said it contacted the relevant law enforcement authorities after learning of a crew conduct breach and an alleged criminal act. The company said it supported the investigation, assisted the guest and dismissed the crew member.
