MSC Preziosa closes Greenock’s 2026 cruise season
The 139,000-tonne ship made its third call of the year at the Ocean Terminal during a round trip from Hamburg.

MSC Preziosa arrived in Greenock as the port’s final cruise visitor of the 2026 season. With capacity for as many as 4,378 passengers and 1,370 crew, it was the largest ship by passenger capacity to visit the town during the year.
The call was the vessel’s third at Greenock’s Ocean Terminal in 2026, following visits on May 15 and September 9. Its round-trip itinerary from Hamburg also included Kirkwall, Stornoway, Belfast and Liverpool.
Hannibal Gaddafi has said the ship was initially commissioned to support plans for a luxury cruise industry in Libya under his father, Muammar Gaddafi. It was expected to carry the name Phoenicia.
After Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown, Libya’s state-owned General National Maritime Transport Company fell behind on payments to French shipyard STX, which was building the vessel. MSC later purchased the ship.
