MSC Group begins construction on Sandy Cay in The Bahamas
The private island destination for MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys guests is scheduled to open in 2028.

MSC Group’s Cruise Division formally broke ground on Sandy Cay in September. Formerly known as Little Cay, the artificial private island destination is under development in The Bahamas, adjacent to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.
Construction is underway, and MSC has scheduled Sandy Cay to open in 2028. The project was first announced in April 2026 and will be reserved for guests of MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys.
MSC is designing the development around a lower-density concept focused on five beaches, wellness and relaxation facilities, private retreats, dining and personalised service.
The company also plans additions at Ocean Cay, including more dining venues and separate beach concepts for families and adults. Its plans also call for expanded relaxation areas and additional immersive experiences.
MSC had not released booking details for Sandy Cay.
