MSC Cruises builds Galveston presence with year-round Seascape sailings

The 5,877-guest ship operates weekly cruises from Terminal 16 as Galveston reports continued passenger growth.

MSC Cruises is expanding its U.S. footprint with MSC Seascape homeported year-round in Galveston. The cruise line entered Texas in November 2025, following the launch of seasonal Fort Lauderdale service in 1998 and year-round Miami sailings in 2013.

MSC Seascape, which has an official capacity of 5,877 guests, operates weekly itineraries from Galveston with stops in the Caribbean and Central America. Visit Galveston reported a 10.3% year-over-year increase in departing cruise passengers, including 22.1% growth in August from the same month a year earlier.

In a December 2025 press release, Galveston port director Rodger Rees estimated that the expansion linked to MSC’s operation from Terminal 16 would generate an annual economic impact of $138 million.

The ship incorporates Texas-focused offerings, including a resident country band, line-dancing classes, sports broadcasts, prime rib, buttermilk pie and spicy margaritas. Other amenities include a water park, infinity pool, spa, arcade and robotic-arm thrill ride. Guests booking the MSC Yacht Club receive access to private areas and a dedicated dining room.
