MSC Cruise Terminal opens at PortMiami with capacity for three ships
Arquitectonica’s 492,000-square-foot facility is designed to process as many as 36,000 passengers per day.

The MSC Cruise Terminal at PortMiami officially opened in April 2025, three years after construction began. Designed by Miami architecture studio Arquitectonica, the facility is described as the world’s largest cruise terminal by size.
The slim, elongated terminal covers 492,000 square feet and can berth three full-sized cruise ships end-to-end at the same time. It is designed to process 36,000 passengers daily and serves vessels operated by MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, including cruises departing for the Caribbean and calls by passengers visiting the Miami area.
Passenger facilities include biometric screening, which the project team says is intended to strengthen security and accelerate movement through the terminal. The wider development also features a parking garage with spaces for 2,400 cars.
The project is pursuing LEED Gold certification. It also incorporates infrastructure intended to provide power for future vessels fueled by liquefied natural gas.
