Melaka cruise terminal piling reaches 56% completion
The Pulau Melaka project is planned to begin operations in phases from early 2028.

Piling work for the Melaka International Cruise Terminal on Pulau Melaka was 56% complete as of October 3, with 170 piles installed. Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the remaining 134 piles were expected to be installed by mid-November.
The terminal, a key part of the Melaka Gateway development, comprises an L-shaped jetty, a T-shaped jetty and a Customs, Immigration and Quarantine complex. According to Ab Rauf, the developer aims to finish the L-shaped jetty by the end of next year and begin operations in early 2028. The other jetty and the customs complex are expected to be completed in 2029.
Ab Rauf said plans presented for the project indicate the terminal could handle about 800 cruise ship arrivals and as many as 1.6 million passengers annually. He placed the planned investment at RM2 billion and said the development could create more than 10,000 jobs.
Melaka currently receives 4,800 tourists each Monday and 3,000 each Thursday aboard Genting Dream Cruise, according to Ab Rauf.
