Mein Schiff 7 completes methanol bunkering test in Kiel
MB Energy delivered renewable-based methanol to the TUI Cruises ship while it was berthed at the Ostseekai cruise terminal.

MB Energy has completed a methanol bunkering test for TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 7 at the Port of Kiel’s Ostseekai cruise terminal. The company described the operation as a practical step toward using lower-carbon marine fuel solutions.
About 25 cubic meters of methanol produced from renewable raw materials was delivered for use in the ship’s boilers while Mein Schiff 7 was alongside the pier. According to MB Energy, the transfer was conducted safely as regular terminal activities continued.
Logistics partner Johs. Martens Spedition managed the road transport and physical delivery at the terminal. The truck involved in the operation ran on HVO 100 instead of conventional diesel. MB Energy also plans to develop methanol-ready infrastructure at Hamburg-Blumensand, which the company says will support supplies of low-carbon methanol and ammonia in Northern Germany and other markets.
