Mein Schiff 3 hosts emergency-response drill in Bremerhaven
German maritime emergency services and TUI Cruises tested procedures for a simulated mass-casualty incident while the vessel was berthed with passengers aboard.

German maritime emergency services and TUI Cruises conducted an emergency-response exercise aboard Mein Schiff 3 at Bremerhaven’s cruise terminal on Sunday.
The German Central Command for Maritime Emergencies, known as the Havariekommando, and TUI jointly organized the drill, which involved approximately 50 emergency personnel. The training covered medical assistance, coordination among agencies and psychosocial support during a simulated incident involving multiple casualties on a passenger vessel.
Specialized firefighting units from Cuxhaven and Wilhelmshaven deployed to the ship after being alerted by the Havariekommando. Their role was to assess the simulated situation and provide medical assistance to the exercise casualties.
Specialists from the German Seamen’s Mission and other maritime psychosocial support organizations also simulated assistance for affected people aboard Mein Schiff 3 and at the passenger terminal.
Passengers were aboard the berthed vessel during the exercise and had received advance notice. This allowed the drill to proceed as normal shipboard operations continued.
