Mediterranean cruise traveler highlights summer heat during two sailings
Two Royal Caribbean voyages from Spain offered independent port exploration in Italy and France, but high temperatures disrupted some plans.

A traveler who spent 11 nights across two Mediterranean cruises this summer said extreme heat affected time ashore and prompted shorter days of exploration.
Both sailings were aboard Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas. The traveler took one cruise with his wife and the other alone, boarding in Malaga for one itinerary and Barcelona for the other. He had two days to explore each Spanish departure city.
The Western Mediterranean voyages also visited destinations in Italy and France. The traveler said he generally explored ports independently rather than joining organized tours.
Despite previous experience with summer cruises, he described the combination of high temperatures and limited air movement as uncomfortable enough to curtail some sightseeing. He also reported very hot conditions in destinations including Rome, even in early September.
By comparison, the traveler said an April Silversea voyage around the Iberian Peninsula provided warm weather without the excessive heat he encountered during the summer sailings.
