Margaritaville at Sea plans Galveston service from 2027
A port agreement calls for weekly Friday sailings from Cruise Terminal 28 beginning in October 2027.
The Galveston Wharves Board of Trustees unanimously approved an agreement with Margaritaville at Sea on Aug. 25, positioning the company to become the Port of Galveston’s seventh cruise line in October 2027.
Under the agreement, Margaritaville at Sea will operate weekly departures from Cruise Terminal 28 for an initial one-year term. The deal includes options for two additional five-year terms. The service will also introduce Friday departures to Galveston’s cruise schedule and broaden the Caribbean and Central American itinerary choices available from the port.
Margaritaville at Sea is expected to identify the ship that will be based in Galveston and announce its first itineraries during a port event in September.
Galveston forecasts 446 cruise ship departures in 2026. Passenger movements are projected to reach approximately 3.9 million that year, which the port expects would set a record.
According to the port, the local cruise sector supports more than 4,547 jobs and generates about $733 million in business revenue in the Galveston area.
