Man granted bail after alleged domestic violence incident on cruise
The 42-year-old pleaded not guilty and was ordered not to travel or contact witnesses, subject to a limited exception.

A 42-year-old man from Żejtun has pleaded not guilty after being arraigned on domestic-violence charges involving his partner following an incident during a cruise.
According to the police inspector, a disagreement between the couple over photographs escalated into a verbal argument while they were on the cruise. The alleged victim claimed the man assaulted her and pulled her hair. The accused maintained that he acted in self-defence after she attacked him.
The court granted bail under several conditions, including that the accused attend every court sitting and refrain from travelling abroad. He was also prohibited from contacting witnesses, including his partner, except in relation to matters concerning their daughter.
The magistrate set bail at an €800 deposit and a €10,000 personal guarantee. The court also issued a three-year protection order in favour of the man’s partner.
