Local residents wave off Carnival Sunshine from Sydney
Nichole Young and Florence Young greeted passengers from shore as the Carnival cruise ship departed the Port of Sydney on Thursday evening.

Carnival Sunshine received a friendly sendoff as it left the Port of Sydney on Thursday evening, with two local residents waving toward passengers aboard the departing cruise ship.
Nichole Young of Howie Centre and Florence Young of Sydney River were among those marking the vessel’s departure. Both waved to passengers as Carnival Sunshine moved away from the port.
Nichole Young said she had noticed one passenger waving from the ship and decided to return the gesture. She described her response as an expression of Cape Breton hospitality and said she offered warm wishes to those aboard.
The exchange took place during the ship’s evening departure, briefly connecting the two women on shore with passengers leaving Sydney aboard Carnival Sunshine.
