Legend of the Seas passenger reflects on Western Mediterranean sailing
The traveler cited a port-heavy itinerary, limited cabin use and transportation differences after disembarking in Barcelona.
A passenger taking his first Western Mediterranean cruise with Royal Caribbean aboard Legend of the Seas said the line moved the ship’s inaugural sailing forward by about a month. He kept his reservation because the revised timing better suited his summer plans, though he later felt postponing the trip by roughly a month would have been preferable.
The itinerary included only two sea days, and the passenger said he spent little time in his balcony stateroom because he was frequently exploring the ship or visiting ports. In retrospect, he estimated that choosing an interior cabin could have saved hundreds of dollars for excursions or dining.
The voyage was also rerouted to Marseille, France, rather than Naples, Italy, prompting the passenger to research activities in the replacement port.
After disembarking in Barcelona, he said the taxi queue took almost an hour. By comparison, Royal Caribbean’s airport bus transfers reportedly operated on schedule without a wait.
