Karnataka studies potential Mangaluru-Goa cruise service
The coastal tourism proposal remains under initial review, with no final decision made, according to state minister K J George.

Karnataka is exploring cruise tourism, Kerala-style houseboats and a possible passenger cruise connection between Mangaluru and Goa, Tourism and Energy Minister K J George said. The proposed route could include calls at several destinations along the coastline.
George said the cruise initiatives are still at an early study stage and that the state has not reached a final decision. Discussions on the infrastructure needed to support cruise tourism are underway with the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and authorities at New Mangalore Port, he added.
The state is also considering measures to encourage international cruise passengers arriving at New Mangalore Port to remain in the region and visit nearby tourism destinations instead of using the port only as a transit stop.
