Japan’s First Disney Cruise Ship Named Disney Imagination
The new vessel is scheduled to begin short sailings from Tokyo in the latter half of fiscal 2028.

Oriental Land and Oriental Land Cruises have named Japan’s first Disney cruise ship Disney Imagination. The vessel will be built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, and its stern artwork will depict Ariel painting the ship’s name alongside Sebastian, both characters from The Little Mermaid.
Tokyo International Cruise Terminal will serve as the ship’s main departure and arrival port. Service is scheduled to begin in the latter half of fiscal 2028, described as spring 2029. Disney Imagination will operate two- and three-night cruises designed to fit within a Tokyo Disney Resort vacation.
Planned onboard entertainment includes original productions in a theater seating more than 1,300 guests, character shows on an outdoor-deck stage, programs offered throughout the ship and meet-and-greets featuring Disney characters in cruise-specific costumes.
Dining plans call for guests to rotate each day among three themed main restaurants, each offering a different menu. In total, the ship is expected to include about 30 food and beverage venues, including cafes and bars.
