Individual charged after boarding Cunard’s Queen Anne in Belfast
Belfast Harbour reviewed its procedures and added deterrents following unauthorized access to the cruise quay and ship.

Belfast Harbour Police said an individual was arrested and taken into custody last month after illegally entering the cruise quay and climbing aboard a cruise ship. The person was later charged and appeared in court earlier this month, according to a harbour spokesperson.
Cunard said the individual attempted to access Queen Anne in Belfast on July 28. According to the cruise line, onboard security personnel immediately detained the person, who was then removed by local authorities.
A harbour source said a passenger first raised the alarm and that tracking down the individual took about half an hour.
Cunard said the incident did not affect Queen Anne’s departure or onward itinerary.
Belfast Harbour said it subsequently reviewed its processes and consulted officials from the UK Department for Transport. It also installed additional deterrents and made improvements intended to help prevent determined individuals from gaining access to restricted areas.
