India launches group e-visa for international cruise passengers
Cruise operators and authorised agents can file consolidated applications for eligible travellers on fixed itineraries.

India has introduced an e-Group Visit Visa for cruise tourists from 172 countries and territories whose nationals are eligible for the country’s e-tourist visa program.
Under the new system, cruise operators or authorised agents may submit a single consolidated application covering eligible passengers travelling on fixed itineraries. Applications must be filed at least three days before the vessel arrives at its first port in India.
The visa remains valid for 30 days, permits multiple entries and can be used at India’s designated cruise e-Visa seaports.
The measure comes as India expands its cruise infrastructure. Government figures show cruise calls increased from 102 in 2013–14 to 224 in 2025–26. Authorities have set a target of 1,000 cruise calls by 2030.
Separately, UK government guidance advises cruise passengers that they may require a higher level of travel insurance because access to hospitals can be more limited. Travellers are advised to confirm that their policies cover emergency medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation.
