Icon of the Seas scheduled to homeport in Galveston in 2027
Royal Caribbean’s Texas deployment will pair weeklong Icon-class itineraries with shorter cruises aboard Liberty of the Seas.

Icon of the Seas is scheduled to begin homeporting in Galveston in mid-August 2027, according to a Royal Caribbean blog cited in the report. The ship is expected to reach Texas after a nine-night repositioning cruise from Miami.
The 250,800-gross-ton ship, which has 20 decks, is planned to operate mainly seven-night Western Caribbean itineraries from Galveston. Some six- and eight-night options are also expected to be offered.
Liberty of the Seas primarily operates four- and five-night cruises from Galveston, typically calling at Cozumel and Costa Maya. During a Royal Amplification drydock in April and May 2026, the ship received 68 additional cabins and refreshed amenities. The work also added Izumi Hibachi & Sushi, a full-service Starbucks and the Lime & Coconut pool deck.
Royal Caribbean is also scheduled to open its Perfect Day Mexico private destination in Mahahual, Mexico, in late 2027. Plans announced by the cruise line include waterparks, private cabanas and exclusive beach clubs.
