Hooghly Cochin Shipyard wins order for two luxury river cruise vessels
Heritage River Journeys’ follow-up order calls for deliveries in June 2029 and June 2030.

Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Limited has secured a follow-up order from Heritage River Journeys Private Limited to build two luxury inland river cruise vessels, according to stock-exchange filings by parent company Cochin Shipyard Limited.
The vessels are scheduled for delivery in June 2029 and June 2030, respectively. Cochin Shipyard did not disclose the contract price but classified the order as significant, placing its value in a range of ₹1 billion to ₹2.5 billion, or approximately US$10.3 million to US$25.8 million.
The companies previously entered agreements covering two other luxury river cruise ships. In June 2025, they signed a construction contract for the first vessel and a letter of intent for the second. A construction contract for that second ship followed in December 2025. Those vessels were originally intended to operate on the Brahmaputra River route.
The filings did not provide specifications or planned operating routes for the newly ordered vessels. They also did not indicate whether the ships would use the same specifications as the earlier cruise vessels.
