Holland America plans Pan Am-inspired Zuiderdam voyage
The 28-day Caribbean and Central America itinerary will pair 18 port calls with themed dining, tours and expert presentations.

Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam is scheduled to sail a 28-day Caribbean and Central America itinerary inspired by routes once flown by Pan Am Clipper seaplanes. The ship is expected to visit 18 locations, approximately 13 of which appeared on Pan Am’s original itinerary.
The onboard program is planned to include Pan Am-inspired meals, expert speakers and special shore excursions. Tours in Colón, Panama, and St. John’s, Antigua, will focus on places and experiences linked to the airline’s historic routes.
Planned dining options include period-style dishes such as shrimp cocktail served with boiled egg, asparagus and Louis dressing, along with Dover sole featuring a crabmeat filling and baked in puff pastry. A Clipper Cocktail made with rum, Dolin Blanc and grenadine will also be available for purchase onboard.
Holland America licensed the Pan Am name, marks and intellectual property from Pan American World Airways, which is part of Pan American Global Holdings. Holland America spokesman Bill Zucker said the separate Pan Am Museum Foundation is supporting the project through educational storytelling, community engagement and promotional opportunities.
Paul Grigsby, Holland America’s vice president of itinerary planning, said Zuiderdam cannot completely reproduce the former flight routes because the ship cannot cruise to destinations including Cuba and Venezuela.
