Holland America Adds Nootka Sound to Select 2028 Alaska Cruises
The line plans to deploy six ships in Alaska, introduce a San Diego departure and begin the season with an upgraded Oosterdam.

Holland America Line has opened bookings for its summer 2028 Alaska season, which will feature scenic cruising in British Columbia’s Nootka Sound on select Great Alaska Explorer and Great Bear Rainforest itineraries.
The company plans to deploy six ships, offering round trips from Seattle and Vancouver, one-way voyages between Vancouver and Whittier, Alaska, and a new departure from San Diego.
The new 11-day California to Alaska: Shores, Fjords & Glaciers itinerary aboard Zaandam will sail from San Diego to Vancouver. Its planned route includes Glacier Bay, Juneau, Ketchikan, Wrangell, Klawock Island and Prince Rupert, British Columbia.
Longer options will include a 16- or 18-day Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer voyage. Holland America said the itinerary will combine scenic cruising in British Columbia with visits to Kodiak, Homer, Valdez and the Port of Anchorage.
Oosterdam is scheduled to enter the season after upgrades under Holland America’s Evolution program. Planned additions include Solo Verandah staterooms and Bridgeview Suites with forward-facing panoramic views, along with design updates to the Grand Dutch Café.
