Historic Nordstjernen makes first call at Fishguard
The Norwegian passenger ship was scheduled to arrive with 300 German passengers and around 40 crew members.

MV Nordstjernen was making its first visit to both Fishguard and Wales. Some passengers were expected to take excursions to St Davids Cathedral and Carew Castle.
Built by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg in 1956, Nordstjernen spent more than half a century on Hurtigruten’s coastal route between Bergen and Kirkenes. The ship carried passengers, mail and cargo, providing a connection for coastal settlements when road links in northern Norway were limited. It entered service on March 1, 1956, and remained associated with Hurtigruten until 2012.
Norway granted Nordstjernen protected heritage status in 2012, recognizing its importance as a surviving postwar passenger vessel. The ship was restored in historic Bergen Line colors and returned to cruising under the Vestland Classic banner.
Nordstjernen’s call was part of two dozen cruise ship visits scheduled to bring passengers to Fishguard, Goodwick and other destinations during the summer.
