Hero of the Seas Floats Out in Finland Ahead of 2027 Debut
Royal Caribbean’s fourth Icon Class ship has moved into its final outfitting and testing phase at the Meyer Turku shipyard.

Hero of the Seas has touched water for the first time after floating out of dry dock at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. Completed in early September 2026, the milestone moves the 250,800-gross-ton vessel into its final preparation phase ahead of an expected 2027 launch from Miami.
The ship, the fourth in Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class, will remain at the Finnish yard while crews outfit and test hundreds of spaces. The remaining work includes staterooms, restaurants, entertainment venues and onboard systems.
Industry reports indicate that Hero of the Seas is scheduled to begin operating from Miami in August 2027. The planned program consists of weeklong Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Royal Caribbean promotional materials state that every sailing currently offered for sale includes a call at Perfect Day at CocoCay, the company’s private island destination in the Bahamas.
Royal Caribbean’s published overview lists an expanded Category 6 waterpark, nine pools and 28 dining venues aboard the ship. The dining lineup is expected to include complimentary restaurants, specialty options and casual venues.
