Hero of the Seas Floats Out at Meyer Turku Shipyard
Royal Caribbean’s next Icon Class vessel has moved to an outfitting pier in Finland as construction continues toward its planned 2027 debut.

Hero of the Seas has been floated out at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. After workers flooded the building dock, the vessel was moved from the drydock to an adjacent outfitting pier.
At the pier, shipyard teams will continue installing and completing cabins, public areas, technical systems and interior spaces. The ship’s hull assembly was completed in July, when the final structural block was placed.
Meyer Turku has described the AquaDome as the largest single-piece glass-and-steel assembly ever lifted onto a cruise ship. Hero of the Seas will join Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class.
The vessel is planned to measure approximately 365 metres in length and about 250,800 gross tons. Its planned accommodation is approximately 5,610 passengers at double occupancy, rising to about 7,600 guests at maximum capacity.
Hero of the Seas is scheduled to begin service in August 2027. Royal Caribbean plans for the ship to operate year-round from Miami, offering seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises.
