Harland & Wolff lands Beachcomber revitalisation project in Belfast
Margaritaville at Sea’s ship transformation is expected to generate about £40 million for the Belfast region before its planned 2027 debut from Miami.
Harland & Wolff has secured a project to revitalise Margaritaville at Sea’s Beachcomber at its Belfast shipyard. The company described the contract as the yard’s largest investment in a cruise ship revitalisation since Harland & Wolff was acquired by Navantia.
The project is expected to generate approximately £40 million for the Belfast region through the use of Harland & Wolff’s ship repair yard, facilities and skilled workforce. Local contractors and suppliers MJM, Mivan and Madden Marine are also scheduled to carry out significant work as part of the vessel’s transformation.
Margaritaville at Sea selected Navantia UK for the Beachcomber project after the revitalisation of Islander. The cruise line cited the yard’s experience delivering complex, large-scale cruise ship transformations and meeting its required standards.
Beachcomber is scheduled to arrive in Belfast in September 2026, when transformation work is due to begin. The vessel is then expected to enter service from Port of Miami in 2027.
