Hapag-Lloyd Cruises Plans 2027 Amazon Expedition
The 21-day itinerary will sail from Belém, Brazil, to Iquitos, Peru, with expedition activities and bundled travel services.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has scheduled an Amazon sailing from April 9 to May 1, 2027. Departing Belém at the river’s Atlantic mouth, the voyage is set to travel to Iquitos and include Zodiac landings, expedition activities, Manaus and destinations along the Rio Negro. The premium fare includes charter air and other bundled travel services.
The itinerary arrives as adventure-travel industry briefings point to growing interest in luxury expedition voyages from Iquitos into protected areas of the Peruvian Amazon. Information published by luxury river-cruise brands shows that Uniworld’s Aria Amazon also offers boutique-style Peru itineraries, featuring a limited number of suites and personalized service. Iquitos is accessible by domestic flights from Lima and serves as an embarkation point for Amazon cruises.
Cruise Lines International Association reported that 1.12 million South Americans took ocean-going cruises in 2025, an increase of 4.2% from the prior year. Brazil accounted for about 70% of those passengers. Separate market research projects continued annual growth in South American river-cruise capacity and revenue between 2025 and 2030.
