Groundbreaking held for new cruise terminal at Naha Port
The Okinawa facility is scheduled for completion and commissioning in March 2028 under an agreement with the Naha Port Authority.

Naha Port Authority, Cruise Port Naha GK, Royal Caribbean Group and MSC Cruises have held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new cruise terminal at Naha Port in Okinawa. The project is intended to support continued cruise industry growth in Japan and East Asia.
Cruise Port Naha GK is a joint venture between CTL Maritime and RCL Cruises Ltd., representing the interests of MSC Cruises and Royal Caribbean Group, respectively. Under an agreement signed with the port authority in August 2026, the venture will develop and operate the terminal. Completion and commissioning are scheduled for March 2028.
The planned terminal will feature facilities designed for cruise traffic. Its stated aims include improving the passenger experience, increasing operational efficiency and supporting long-term cruise-tourism growth in Okinawa. Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism designated Naha Port as a site for an international cruise hub in 2019.
Royal Caribbean’s website lists selected seasonal departures from Tokyo’s Yokohama port from October 2026 through April 2028. The sailings range from eight to sixteen nights aboard Navigator of the Seas, Quantum of the Seas, Spectrum of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas.
