Golden Horizon reportedly sold after Croatia lay-up
The sailing cruise ship has remained in Split since 2022, with the buyer’s identity not officially disclosed.

Golden Horizon, the sailing cruise ship formerly known as Flying Clipper, has reportedly been sold to an undisclosed buyer after being laid up in Split, Croatia, since 2022.
Local media placed the sale price at £110 million, or about US$130 million. Croatian reports identified the purchaser as a Swiss company operating roughly 100 vessels, though that detail has not been independently confirmed and the new owner has not been officially named.
Built by Brodosplit, Golden Horizon has capacity for as many as 324 passengers. Its 140 staterooms are arranged across six decks.
Star Clippers ordered the vessel in 2014, but it never entered service with the cruise operator because of a legal dispute with Brodosplit. UK authorities later seized Flying Clipper while that dispute remained unresolved.
The completed ship was subsequently sold to UK-based Tradewind Voyages. That operator was also unable to begin service with the vessel.
