Funchal offered for sale in sealed-bid process
The 402-passenger ship carries a minimum bid of €802,354, with written offers due by Sept. 30, 2026.

Funchal is being offered for sale through a sealed-bid process as part of Teamson Lda’s insolvency proceedings, according to a Madeira court. Sources in Portugal said the process will continue through late September.
Insolvency administrators said the vessel will be sold on an as-is, where-is basis with a minimum bid of €802,354. Written bids must be delivered to an address in Lisbon by Sept. 30, 2026, accompanied by a security deposit check equal to 10% of the offer. Bidders must also provide basic contact and personal information.
The ship is being offered free of debt, while the buyer will be responsible for charges associated with the purchase. Prospective bidders may visit Funchal on Sept. 18, 2026. The submitted offers are scheduled to be opened during a public event aboard the vessel on Oct. 9, 2026.
Teamson acquired the 402-passenger Funchal in April 2021 through a project that also included Astoria, which has since been scrapped.
