Fred. Olsen marks 20 years of Newcastle cruise operations

The cruise line is planning a record 27 departures from the Port of Tyne in 2027.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has celebrated 20 years of operating from Newcastle with a special programme for guests boarding Balmoral at the Port of Tyne. The company began sailing from the port in 2006 and says it has since carried more than 180,000 passengers from North East England.

According to the cruise line, another 21,000 guests are already booked on future departures from the Port of Tyne. Three Newcastle sailings remain in 2026, two of which are sold out. Limited space is still available on a 14-night European Cities & Scenic Rivers itinerary scheduled for September.

Fred. Olsen is also preparing what it describes as its largest Newcastle programme to date. The 2027 schedule will feature 27 cruises from the port, including Arctic voyages focused on the Northern Lights, Scandinavian itineraries and sailings to warmer destinations in Europe.
