FIF4MARINE battery fire-suppression system gains RINA Type Approval
The certification covers the system’s product design and suitability for repeated use across marine projects.

Dutch engineering and fire-safety company FIF4MARINE’s lithium-ion battery fire-suppression system has become the first solution of its kind to receive RINA Type Approval.
The certification was formally presented at SMM Hamburg 2026. It recognizes the system’s product design and confirms its suitability for repeat application, allowing the approved design to be used as a basis for multiple projects.
The approval removes the need to conduct the same design assessment at the outset of each project. However, it does not provide a single approval covering every installation. Integration requirements specific to each vessel will continue to be assessed separately, while applicable classification society and statutory requirements must also be addressed individually for each project.
