Explora Journeys Plans Entry Into River Cruising
The company intends to open sales for its river product in 2027, though ship and itinerary details remain unannounced.

Explora Journeys has announced plans to enter the river cruise market, joining the growing number of ocean cruise brands pursuing expansion into the sector. The company said it intends to begin sales for its river offering in 2027.
Explora Journeys has not yet disclosed details of the planned operation. Information about the ships, itineraries and other elements of the river product had not been announced.
The move follows Celebrity Cruises’ plan to establish a fleet of 20 river ships in Europe. Celebrity River Cruises’ priority access sold out within six minutes, according to the report. It also said that most customers booked for Celebrity’s inaugural river season had previously sailed aboard the company’s ocean cruises.
Explora Journeys has not announced the size of its intended river fleet or identified the destinations it plans to serve. Its stated 2027 sales timetable is currently the main detail available about the new product.
