Disney Wish Guest Airlifted From Castaway Cay
The passenger became ill during a three-night Halloween on the High Seas cruise and was flown to Fort Lauderdale for further treatment.
A guest sailing aboard Disney Wish was medically evacuated by helicopter after becoming ill during the ship’s September 13 visit to Disney Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line’s private island destination.
A Reddit user’s account described the condition as suspected heat stroke. Disney cast members and paramedics assisted in moving the passenger from a Disney-owned stretcher to the helicopter’s equipment. The aircraft then departed for Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where the guest could receive additional medical care.
The emergency occurred during a three-night Halloween on the High Seas itinerary. Disney Wish left Port Canaveral, Florida, on September 11 and called at Nassau, Bahamas, the following day. The ship visited Castaway Cay on September 13 before returning to Port Canaveral on September 14.
