Disney Vacation Specialist Shares Cruise Packing Advice
Amanda Reed recommends packing lightly and leaving several electrical, decorative and recreational items at home.
Amanda Reed, a White Glove Travel Company agent specializing in Disney vacations, has outlined what she packs for Disney cruises and which items she avoids bringing aboard. Reed advises travelers to take less than they initially expect to need because many necessities are provided during a cruise.
Her do-not-pack list includes power strips and surge protectors, decorative Christmas or twinkle lights, over-the-door shoe organizers, irons, clothing steamers, heating pads, electric blankets, inflatable pool rafts or rings, and drones. She also leaves out bottle warmers and sterilizers, noting that a limited supply is available aboard. According to Reed, some optional items are unsuitable for cruises and could be confiscated.
Among the items Reed does recommend are water shoes, which she found useful for the hot pavement and rocks at Disney’s Castaway Cay. She also carries a reusable water bottle for refilling at drink stations around the deck.
For cabin organization, Reed uses magnetic hooks near the door to hold lanyards and Key to the World cards, which passengers need when leaving the ship.
