Disney Imagination to launch Japan cruises in 2029
Disney and Oriental Land Co. have named the first ship planned for the Disney Cruise Line Japan business.

Disney Imagination is scheduled to begin sailing from Tokyo in spring 2029, becoming the first vessel in Disney Cruise Line Japan. The Disney-branded cruise operation will be run by Oriental Land Co., which owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort under license from Disney.
Oriental Land Co. says the ship will primarily depart from Tokyo International Cruise Terminal. Its earnings materials place the launch in the second half of Japan’s 2028 fiscal year and describe a vessel of about 140,000 gross tons with approximately 1,250 guest rooms. Planned itineraries will range from two to four nights.
The ship is expected to feature three main dining restaurants, each with a distinct theme and menu. Cafes and bars will bring the total number of dining venues to about 30, while onboard shops will offer merchandise exclusive to Disney Imagination. Ariel, Sebastian and other characters from Disney’s The Little Mermaid will appear on the ship’s stern.
