Disney Cruise Line’s New Ship Class Appears Set for Earlier Delivery
Three 3,000-passenger vessels are now expected between early 2029 and late 2030 as Disney works toward a 13-ship fleet.
Disney Cruise Line’s three-ship new class appears to have an accelerated delivery schedule. According to the report, the vessels are now slated to arrive in early 2029, late 2029 and late 2030, rather than the previously planned delivery years of 2029, 2030 and 2031.
Each ship is planned to accommodate 3,000 guests and measure about 100,000 gross tons. The vessels will be approximately 20% larger than the Disney Magic class but smaller than ships in the Disney Dream and Disney Wish classes.
The planned ships will feature energy-efficient systems, batteries designed to support and supplement their main engines, and shore-power capability allowing onboard systems to use a port’s electrical grid while the engines are switched off. Disney also intends the vessels to operate with multiple fuel types, including hydrotreated vegetable oil and renewable methanol, while retaining flexibility for other future fuel options.
The new class will follow Disney Believe, which is scheduled to enter service in 2027 as the fourth Wish-class ship. The additions form part of Disney Cruise Line’s broader expansion to 13 vessels, a target Josh D’Amaro announced during the 2024 D23 Expo, according to the report.
