Disney Cruise Line Reports Major Reduction in Single-Use Plastics
The cruise operator says changes across its fleet and island destinations eliminated more than 99% of guest-facing, non-essential single-use plastics by the end of fiscal 2025.

Disney Cruise Line said it has removed plastic straws, merchandise bags, cutlery and individual condiment packets across its fleet as part of a broader effort to reduce disposable materials.
At Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, meal service now uses reusable dishes, flatware and cups, allowing the destination to operate without guest-facing single-use plastics, according to the company. The same meal-service items were later introduced at Disney Castaway Cay.
Merchandise operations also transitioned to reusable shopping bags, a step Disney Cruise Line said avoids nearly 1 million plastic bags annually. Reusable pallet covers have been deployed at loading docks in Port Canaveral, Port Everglades and Singapore, replacing plastic wrap previously used to protect incoming merchandise inventory.
The company said paper-based packaging introduced for Castaway Club loyalty gifts has removed more than 3 million plastic sleeves from operations since 2024. In staterooms, refillable dispensers maintained by housekeeping teams are estimated by Disney Cruise Line to eliminate more than 2.2 million individual plastic bath-product containers each year.
